SURFING BALIAN
Balian beach is one of the most consistent places to surf in Bali. It’s always 2-3 ft. bigger than in the south (Kuta & Bukit) and offers waves all year around.
Many people head up to Balian Surf Beach when the rest of Bali is small, flat, or just feeling the need to get away from the crowded Bali surf breaks. The main wave is an A- frame that offers a long rippable left and right, then there’s also a very good inside left that walls up nicely when the tide pushes in. On the other side of the Balian River, there is another break called Ketut’s that’s a long rippable right with some occasional barrels.
The surf in Balian changes by the hour with the tides. It offers sections for experienced surfers as well as some areas for beginners. The ocean bottom is mainly rock but you will most likely never hit the bottom, but you do have to be cautious of where you enter and exit the ocean on the low tide. Like we tell many visitors to Bali, if you are not familiar with a surf spot, then you should always ask someone with local knowledge about the break so that you have a fun and safe surf!
There are some others breaks around Balian if you are feeling adventurous, but you will have to find those on your own 🙂
